On Saturday November 7th, Katherine Clayton and Catherine Acree represented Roanoke Rapids High School at the NCHSAA 2A Cross Country State Championship Meet.
The meet was held at the Ivey M. Redmond Sports Complex in Kernersville, NC. The two young ladies faced several tough challenges during the meet. The first being running against the best runners in the state. The second being the rainy weather which created an extremely muddy course. Both girls ran hard and performed well in the meet. 137 girls ran and were scored, Katherine Clayton 47th ran a 22:30, while Catherine Acree 125th ran a 26:04.
"Katherine and Catherine represented our program, school, and community very well today. They both ran extremely hard and had outstanding performances. I am so proud of both of them. It is such an honor for the two of them to be able to run at the State Championship Meet. This was a great way for them to help finish off an excellent season. They, along with all of their teammates, have made me proud to be their coach this season." said Coach Mark Snead.
