Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets hosted Franklinton Rams at the Hive Friday on their "White Out" shirt night.

The Roanoke Rapids Varsity Lady Yellow Jackets got back into the conference race with a convincing win over the Franklinton Rams in the Hive 41-30.   After a very rough game, and loss to Bunn.

Roanoke Rapids leading scorers were: Alizea Neville with 16 points, Anna Vann with 13 points, Michelle Stewart  with 7 points, Haley Farrow with 4 points, Taylor Medlin with 1 point.

Head coach Jim Whitmire post game comments. "We took inventory of where we were as a team and set new goals. Each player was given their stats for the year to date, and I made clear the expectations for each going forward.   The effort in this game was apparent and the outcome followed suit.    If we play to our full potential each night, no team in this conference can beat us.   Our freshman class continues to play at a very high level with Anna Vann scoring 13 and pulling down 9 rebounds.   Alizae Neville had that "breakout game" she needed to gain the confidence to feel comfortable in the post.   She lead the team with 16 points, shooting 3 of 7 from the 3 point line, 2 of 4 from the field and 3 of 4 from the stripe.   As a team we had 21 steals and disrupted Franklinton's offense all night with hustle defense.   Every member of this team contributed to this win and we continue to get better overall.   We have a big test coming up in the form of Warren County next Tuesday and I am confident that this is our opportunity to take the top spot in the conference."

The Roanoke Rapids Varsity boys came up short, falling to the Franklinton Rams 66-47.

Down by 16 points with under six minutes in the first half, the Jackets went on a 13-3 run to cut the Rams lead to 3. The rams outscored the Jackets in both the 3rd and 4th period.

Roanoke Rapids leading scorer was: Tyjarek Simmons with 14 points.

Head coach Tyler Snyder post game comments, "I thought we rebounded much better. They were long and got after us. We made some mistakes and need to take care of the ball better. They were a good team."
