The Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets Swim Team returned home Thursday from a fantastic conference championship meet, in which they finished in 3rd place on both the men's and women's sides. 

Turning in strong performances included Allison Clements with big drops in the 200 and 500 free, Meagan Colston, and Carmen Li, Colby Allen and Lonnie Harris in the 50 free, and Bryan Hunter in the 100 fly.  Taylor Beaver, Lindsay Holt, Lexa Carlisle, Carmen Li, Colby Allen, Lonnie Harris, Doug Glasgow, and Jordan Walker all turned in strong performances with season bests in the 100 free.  Alex Leard performed well in the 200 free and 100 breaststroke, turning in season bests in both.  Abbey Acree turned in a season best in the 100 backstroke and Brisia Aparicio did as well.  Ryan Harrison, Jason Pang, and Emma Barber worked hard in the grueling 200 and 500 freestyles, scoring points in both of these events.  Kendall Qualls and Amy Fromal qualified for regionals with great swims in the 100 breaststroke.  Macie Hasty worked hard in the 50 free and 100 backstroke, scoring points in the 100 back.   Colin Harris swam a great 100 fly and Josh Sweet worked hard in the 100 breaststroke. Addie Nixon was conference champion in the 100 breaststroke, breaking her own school record by over 3/4 of a second in the process (1:15.15).    

 
The girls relay teams of Abbey Acree, Amy Fromal, Kristy Price, and Addie Nixon took second in the 200 Medley Relay, while Acree, Fromal, Price, and Katherine King dropped 5 seconds from their 400 Free Relay time while earning a second place finish, and Nixon, Price, Fromal, and King worked hard to earn a second place in finish in the 200 free relay as well.
 
 
The boys Medley relay team of Doug Glasgow, Shaun Fromal, AJ Hoscila, and Hunter Hargrave broke their own school record in the 200 Medley Relay, enroute to a 3rd place finish, while Fromal, Hoscila, Hargrave, and Colby Allen turned in impressive swims in the 200 and 400 free relays to finish second in the conference in both.  
 
The Jackets would like to thank their seniors- Shaun Fromal, Addie Nixon, Colby Allen, Katherine King, Lonnie Harris, Emma Barber, Carmen Li, and Taylor Beaver for all of their hard work and dedication to this program.  The Jackets look to continue this hot streak as they head to the Triangle Aquatic Center on February 5th for regionals with a large group of this dynamic team.
