The Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets basketball teams traveled to Southern Vance Friday night.
The JV boys Jackets team won their match-up 58-38.
Roanoke Rapids leading scorers were: Quincy Vann with 17 points, Deraj Watson with 15 points, KJ Faulcon with 7 points, Jack Neville with 7 points, Givontae Harrell with 5 points and Damoni Mitchell with 2 points.
Roanoke Rapids Varsity girls beat Southern Vance 57-45.
Roanoke Rapids leading scorers were: Anna Vann with 21 points, Alizae Neville with 14 points, Brooke McClenny with 8 points, Haley Farrow with 2 points, Michelle Stewart with 4 points, Erica Whitmire with 2 points, Abbi Carpenter with 4 points and Taylor Medlin with 2 points.
Post game comments from Head coach Jim Whitmire, "Our girls got back on track with a convencing win against Southern Vance. This win puts us right back in the conference race. We currently sit tied for second place with Warren County. Every player on the roster contrbuted to the victory and got some valuable playing time. We travel to Franklinton next Tuesday and then finish the regular season with Warren County, at home, Feb 12. With a win against Franklinton, the stage will be set for a showdown with Warren County to detirmine the runner up spot in the conference. What a way to end the season - Senior Night and an opportunity to finish the season with 14 wins. I hope to see the "Hive" packed to capacity in support of this effort."

Roanoke Rapids leading scorers were: Tyjarek Simmons with 36 points, Semaj Smith with 11 points, TJ Scott and Dre Terry with 7 points each.
