Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jacket wrestler advances to State Tournament.

220 lbs. weight class, Alvin Johnson placed top 4 in the Mideast Regionals to qualify for the 2016 NCHSAA State Wrestling Championship. He will wrestle West Regional Champion, London Page from East Burke High School, in the first round.

Roanoke Rapids had a good showing at the Regionals last week  where: 113 lbs. Ethan Dixon, 152 lbs. Robert Weber and 195 lbs Matthew Norton placed top eight in the Regionals 120 lbs Eric Baird, 126 lbs Christian Doisey, 170 lbs Jake Rooker and 182 lbs Nathan Dixon placed top ten.

Head coach DA White stated, "Everyone won at least one match to advance to the second day. I'm looking forward to watching Alvin wrestle as he is the only Senior on the team and has worked very hard to get where he is. I would like to thank all the parents for their support this season and look forward to next year."
