The Halifax Academy Lady Vikings softball team opened their 2016 season on the road at Wake Christian Academy's First Pitch Tourney.

Halifax fell 8-4 to Wesleyan Christian in game one of the two day tournament.

Candice Smith pitched the game striking out four batters.

At the plate for Halifax Academy: Ashton Garner had a double, Drew Rose had two singles, Candice Smith had two singles, Ashlynn Liles had two singles, Sydney Smith had a single, Karen Alston had a single, Emily Atkins had a single.

In game two of the day, Halifax fell 13-9 to host team Wake Christian Academy.

Sydney Smith pitched game two striking out five batters.

At the plate for Halifax Academy: Drew Rose had a triple and a single, Ashton Garner had two doubles and a single, Brooke Robertson had a double and two singles, Candice Smith had a double and a single, Ashlynn Liles had a double and a single, Sydney Smith had a double and a single, Emerson Poole had a double and a single, Margaret Hudson had a single and Emily Atkins had a single.

Head coach Steve Hamill post game comment,"I think it was to positive games for a young team."

Halifax Academy has a 0-2 overall record and returns to action Saturday morning at Wake Christian Academy's First Pitch Tournament.
