The Roanoke Rapids Lady Yellow Jackets soccer team rebounded Monday night at home with a win after last weeks season opener loss on the road.
The Lady Jackets hosted the Hertford County Bears at Hoyle field Monday under the lights and the match was called fourteen minutes into the second half due to the slaughter rule with Roanoke Rapids up 9-0.
Goals for the Jackets were from: Harley Shearin earned a hat trick with 3 goals, Katherine Clayton had 2, while Kourtney Livesay, Morgan Davis, Karrington Blackmon and Taylor Epps scored one goal each.
The following players had assists: Chloe Wilson, Madison Archer, Catherine Acree and Lauren Blackmon.
Head coach Craig Jean's post match comments, "It's nice to get a win and see our girls finish well. We kept possession and got our outside backs making overlapping runs down the line into the attack, feeding ground balls back to the middle, which is what we have been focusing on."
