Varsity Jackets earn big win Tuesday

The Roanoke Rapids Varsity Yellow Jackets baseball team picked up a big win over the defending 2A State Champions South Granville Vikings by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday night at Doyle Field.

Nick Horvath pitched a complete game earning the win.

At the plate for the Jackets, Marcus Allen led the offense with two doubles and 3 RBI. Others with hits were Cameron Rogerson, Hunter Connell, Colby Warren (double and 1 RBI), Dylan Allen (double and 1 RBI), Logan Jackson (1 RBI), and Jarret Williamson (double).

Post game comments from head coach Mark Snead, "This was another complete team effort. We had strong pitching and great defense behind Nick. Our offense came up with some timely hits with runners in scoring position. We are really starting to come together as a team. I am proud of all the guys. Now we have to get back to practice and keep pushing ourselves to be better and get ready for Franklinton."

With the win the Yellow Jackets improve to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the Northern Carolina Conference.

RRHS will hit the road on Thursday as they travel to Franklinton. Game time is 4:00 for the JV team with the Varsity game to follow.
