A group of Roanoke Rapids High School Alumni have been working on developing clear procedures for selection of members in the Roanoke Rapids Athletic Hall of Fame. 

A set of by-laws including selection criteria have been established and nominations for a class of inductees will be selected and honored in October, 2016.

If you know of anyone deserving of recognition as a member of the Roanoke Rapids High Athletic Hall of Fame, you may nominate that person by going to the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District website (rrgsd.org) and completing the nomination form and submitting it as directed.  To access the nomination form, follow these steps:

1.  Go to the RRHS website and under Athletics click on Sports

2.  Follow the link to the Athletic Hall of Fame and at the bottom, choose the appropriate nomination form.

3.   Complete the form and submit on-line

If you prefer, hard copy nomination forms are available at the Roanoke Rapids High School Principal’s office, 800 Hamilton Street.  Once they have been completed, they should be submitted to the Roanoke Rapids High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee at the same address.

Nominations may be made in four categories:  athlete, coach, team, or other.  The other category includes people who made significant contributions beyond direct participation on the athletic field, e.g. trainer, active booster club member, etc.

During the 2016 football season, the class of inductees will be briefly recognized at halftime of a home football game on a Friday night.  The Class of 2016  will be honored and formally inducted at a Hall of Fame Banquet on Ocotber 1.  The Banquet will be held at the Kirkwood Adams Center and will be open to inductees, friends, family, and the general public.

A program with descriptions of the backgrounds and careers of the inductees will be shared at the Banquet.  Program ads and event sponsorships will also be solicited in the summer and fall.
