The Roanoke Rapids Varsity Baseball team fell to St. Pauls in the first round of the NCHSAA 2A State Playoffs by a score of 6-2 Wednesday night at Doyle field.

Colby Warren was the tough luck loser on the mound for only the second time for the season. Colby pitched a complete game, giving up only four hits and one earned run.

The Yellow Jackets had total of six hits on the night at the plate. The top hitter of the night was Colby Warren who had two hits with a single and a triple, while Marcus Allen, Dylan Allen, Logan Jackson, and Bracy Irby each had a hit.

Post game comments by Roanoke Rapids head coach Mark Snead, "I really feel for our team right now. We picked the worst possible time to play our worst game of the year. I told the guys after the game to let this sting tonight, but tomorrow to forget it and remember what a great season we really had. To remember all the fun they have had together through all these years playing ball and bonding like a family. I want to thank our seniors Frankie Griffin, Zack Connell, Tyler Warren, Logan Jackson, Jarret Williamson, Dylan Allen, and Nick Horvath for all their hard work over the last four years. They are truly a fine group of ball players and young men."

The Yellow Jackets finish the season with a record of 17-5.
