Rising Roanoke Rapids High school senior Colby Warren was part of the 2016 NC PowerAde State game Region 1 High School baseball team earlier this month in Raleigh.

Warren made the twenty man roster by trying out against several other hundred players in twenty counties of Region 1. Warren pitched and played 1st bases during the State games June 16th-19th.

The Region 1 team went 2-2, losing the game to make it to the championship 5-4 in the bottom of the 12th inning to region 6. Region 1 fell 3-1 to Region 5 in the Bronze medal game finishing fourth for the event. 

Warren had a .600 batting average (3 for 5) with a walk, a double, and 2 singles, he had to share playing time at 1st base with one of his Carolina Cubs showcase team mates. Warren also pitched 2 innings in game 2, giving up only 1 hit, no walks ,and 3 strikeouts.

Warren is in the process of raising funds to travel with the Carolina Cubs showcase team to the "Perfect Game" 2016 WWBA National Championship in Atlanta, Georgia July 1st-14th.

Teams will play 7 pool games in the first 6 days of the tournament, while the 16th will consist of just playoffs and the 17th will only have the final four teams playing.
