The Roanoke Valley Girls Softball League All-star teams are in Camden this weekend for the 2016 Little Tarheel District 7 all-star tournament.

The RVGSL U12 all-stars opened play Friday afternoon defeating the Edenton team 5-4 in 6 innings advancing in the winning bracket and will play Sunday at 9AM against the winner of Cashie vs Ahoskie game.

On the mound for the Roanoke Valley team,  Ashlyn Cooke pitched 4 and a half innings with 4 strikeouts. Logan Storey closed pitching the last inning and a half with 1 strikeout.

The  Roanoke Valley's Defense made a triple play in the 2nd inning: with a pop out to the pitcher, who throws the runner at 1st out on no tag up, followed by the 1st baseman throwing the running advancing from 3rd to home out on a tag at home.

At the plate for the Roanoke Valley team:  Morgan Hudomint went 4-4 with 3 singles, Lauren Garner went 3-4, Lily Curtis went 1-4 with 2 RBIs, Logan Storey, Ella Howell, and Makayla Pair each went 1-3, and Alana Mitchell and Lexie Coley each went 1-1.
