The Roanoke Valley Youth Soccer Association’s Under 14 Select Travel team ‘FURY’ won its season opener by a score of 1-0 over a very strong team from Clayton.

The win was also the first win over the Clayton team in five meetings.

The goal was scored early by way of a cross from the right side by Jax Waters to Trey Dixon on the left side finishing with a one-touch shot.  A very strong defense led by Hunt Qualls in the goal and Aiden Woodruff at center back kept Clayton out of the net.

It was a team effort, on both sides of the ball, with all 16 Fury players making strong contributions.  Coach Adam Woodruff did a great job with sideline management from start to finish.

The Fury’s next match on August 27th is away against another strong team, the Lumber River Gunners, from Lumberton.
