Football is a full sixty minute game.

The North Carolina Tar Heels used 59 minutes and 58 seconds to win a dramatic ACC opener on Saturday against the visiting Pittsburgh Panthers.  Down the entire game. the Tar Heel's Quarterback Mitch Trubisky's touchdown pass to Bug Howard with :02 showing on the fourth quarter clock sent Tar Heel nation into a frenzy tying the game 36-36.  Nick Weiler's point after kick sealed the deal with a Tar Heel 37-36 lead. It was as dramatic as they come.

UNC Head Coach Larry Fedora stated, "We knew it was going to take 60 minutes to beat those guys, and we took every second of it to get it done." The Tar Heels trailed the Panthers 36-23 with 5:24 to go in the game before scoring the last two touchdowns of the game, both on passes to Howard, to seal the victory.

Roanoke Rapids High School Alumnus #90 Nazair Jones returned to action on the defensive line for the Heels after missing the previous game against James Madison with a possible concussion.  Jones had one solo tackle and two assists as he consistently clogged the running game in the middle.  "This win means everything to us because one we got to defend our home turf and two defend our costal division championship against a really good team who thought the game was over in the 3rd quarter," stated Jones to RRspin sports.

The Pitt game plan appeared to be to run the ball outside using many Jet Sweeps to avoid the strength of Jones and the middle of the Tar Heel defensive line.  It worked for 58 minutes and 58 seconds.  The Tar Heels could only manage 25 rushing yards themselves on the day, but Trubisky threw for 453 yards and five touchdowns.  Senior Wide Receiver Ryan Switzer finished the game with 16 catches for 208 yards.

Next week Jones and the Tar Heels head to Florida State in another big ACC showdown. Momentum appears to be on their side.
