The Halifax Community College Foundation celebrated another successful year on the course with its 17th Annual HCC Foundation Golf Tournament, bringing together community partners, supporters, alumni, HCC’s faculty, staff, board of trustees, and golfers in support of student success at Halifax Community College.
This year’s tournament welcomed 18 teams and 72 total players for a day of friendly competition and fellowship. The annual tournament serves as the HCC Foundation’s signature fundraising event, with proceeds helping provide resources that enhance student achievement and success at Halifax Community College.
The HCC Foundation extends a special thank you to Cummins, the 2026 Title Sponsor, for its generous support of this year’s tournament. The Foundation also thanks Chockoyotte Country Club for hosting the annual event, along with the many sponsors, donors, golfers, attendees, volunteers, and supporters whose contributions helped make the tournament possible. “Support for the HCC Foundation is an investment in our students, their success, and the future of our community,” said Dr. Patrena B. Elliott, president/CEO of Halifax Community College.
“The success of this tournament is a reflection of the tremendous support Halifax Community College receives from our community, business partners, alumni, and friends,” said Dr. Jennifer Welch-Jones, Executive Director of the HCC Foundation. “Every team that participates, every sponsor that gives, and every volunteer who lends a hand helps us continue our mission of supporting HCC students and creating opportunities for them to succeed. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made this year’s tournament possible.”
The tournament also provided an opportunity for local students to take part in the event. A team of student golfers from Roanoke Rapids High School was able to participate through the generosity of Elijah White, retired Vice President of Geoscience at ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company and his wife, Diana Wandix-White, Ph.D, Professor of Qualitative Research Methods and Multicultural Education at the University of Houston, Clear Lake. The couple sponsored the students’ participation, giving them the opportunity to join community members and supporters on the course and be part of the HCC Foundation’s signature fundraising event. The Roanoke Rapids High School team included Holden Ford, Josh Craddock, Joe Huss, and Brayden Midgette.
White also participated in the tournament as a member of Ezra’s Elite, alongside Charles Evans, Mike Artis, and Rick Copeland.
The HCC Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who supported the tournament. Whether through sponsorship, donations, participation, volunteering, or attendance, each contribution helps strengthen the Foundation’s ability to support Halifax Community College and its students.
The success of the 17th Annual HCC Foundation Golf Tournament reflects the continued generosity and commitment of HCC’s community partners and supporters. The Foundation looks forward to welcoming golfers and supporters back to the course next year for the 18th annual tournament.
