The Halifax Community College Small Business Center is participating in the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship's Everyday Entrepreneur Program.

“This collaboration marks a significant step forward in our commitment to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship on our campus and throughout all communities in all of our service areas,” the college said.

The program provides community colleges the support needed to provide access to entrepreneurial education and funding for their students and Small Business Center clients to take their businesses from an idea to a thriving enterprise.

“By partnering with the National Association of Community College Entrepreneurship Everyday Entrepreneur Program, we can offer the opportunity for students and Small Business Center clients to take part in pitch competitions and have access to craft arts entrepreneurial education to support them, as Artpreneurs, in starting and scaling their businesses,” HCC said.

Key highlights of the participation in the NACCE Everyday Entrepreneur Program include:

SBC Professional Craft Arts Entrepreneurship Program

Halifax Community College’s Small Business Center will integrate the Rural Entrepreneurial Action-Based Learning curriculum into a seven-week — three hours nightly — Craft Arts Entrepreneurship Certification Program.

This program launches this evening at 5 in the HCC Makerspace 800 Building.

It will center craft arts coursework and hands-on learning opportunities to support local talent in starting Creative Arts businesses in order to satisfy local/handmade craft arts tourism market demands.

Student/Client Development

The college will invest in professional development for students and clients by incorporating arts industry professional presentations in to the program to expose them to the opportunities, insights, and resources to deliver a high-quality arts entrepreneurship program.

Student/Client Support

The Small Business Center, along with program sponsors, will provide mentorship, networking opportunities, and access to resources to help our program participants turn their craft arts entrepreneurial ideas into reality.

Students and clients who meet the program requirements will have access to the Everyday Entrepreneur Program Pitch Your Arts Business Competition prize money.

Community Engagement

“We are committed to collaborating with local businesses and organizations to create a vibrant creative arts entrepreneurial ecosystem that benefits our students, our SBC clients, and our wider community,” the college said. “We are so excited to have Lakeland Cultural Arts Center to collaborate with the HCC Small Business Center to not only support our professional arts entrepreneurship program, but to host our Pitch Your Arts Business Competition and to provide economic development opportunities for all of our participants through an Artsapalooza event launch county-wide on May 11.”
