In her keynote speech, Harper talked about her story of perseverance, passion, and success. After earning her Associate in Applied Science in Cosmetology, Harper became a licensed cosmetologist, educator, and entrepreneur.
“Your journey may not always be smooth, but every challenge you face is preparing you for greatness,” Harper told the inductees. She urged them to embrace their passions, give back to their communities, and strive for excellence in all they do.
The main highlight of the evening was the induction of the fall 2024 class of PTK members. Redding and Divens conducted the ceremony and officially welcomed 21 new members. The inductees, who represent a wide range of academic and career aspirations, were recognized for their academic achievements.
Patrena B. Elliott, president of Halifax Community College, concluded the ceremony with encouraging remarks. She reminded the inductees that their latest accomplishment is a testament to their determination and commitment.
Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society that recognizes and encourages academic excellence among two-year college students.
