The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Major Anzell Harris:
Mills charged again
Two days after posting bond Tuesday on drug trafficking charges stemming from a September 18 search warrant execution, Tyron Mills was charged with additional cocaine trafficking counts Thursday.
Court records show that Mills, 49, of Roanoke Rapids, posted bond Tuesday following his arrest from the initial search warrant execution.
Early Thursday morning, the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force, along with criminal investigation divisions from both the sheriff’s office and the Roanoke Rapids Police Department, executed search warrants at two residences on Melody Lane, with Mills and 43-year-old Lucas Hedgepeth identified as the targets.
“The search warrant at Mills’ home came after agents learned that Mills had refused to stop selling drugs in the community, even though agents had just conducted a search warrant at this same residence on September 18,” Harris said. “Mills sent agents on a scavenger hunt by hiding suspected illegal drugs around his property.”

Harris said, however, that officers located approximately 450 grams of powdered cocaine, 154 grams of crack cocaine, and 634 grams of marijuana.

Agents arrested Mills and charged him with:
Two counts of trafficking cocaine
Two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine
Two counts of possession of cocaine
Possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana
Felony possession of marijuana
Felony maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Mills was denied bail and has an October 21 district court date.

A search of Hedgepeth’s residence resulted in the seizure of 10 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of crack cocaine, and 17 grams of marijuana.
Hedgepeth was arrested and charged with:
Two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance
Two counts of felony possession of cocaine
Possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Hedgepeth was not listed in Halifax County Detention Center records as of today. He has an October 20 district court date.
“The Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force is committed to stopping individuals who push harmful substances into our community,” Sheriff Tyree Davis said. “Just because we knocked your door down two weeks ago, two days ago, or two hours ago doesn’t mean you can get out of jail and go back to doing the same thing. You never know when you might see those agents again.”
Trafficking fentanyl
Deputy D. Hicks was conducting traffic enforcement along Highway 48 near Rhea Smith Road on Thursday when he observed a traffic violation.

A canine sniff requested by the deputy led to the discovery of a container in the possession of Deunta Squire, 36, of Roanoke Rapids. Inside the container, officers found 16.1 grams of fentanyl, 1.9 grams of cocaine, and six oxycodone pills.
Squire was arrested and charged with:
Trafficking in fentanyl
Felony possession of cocaine
Possession of a Schedule II controlled substance
Squire was denied bail and awaits an October 21 district court date.
Sheriff’s Office Community Action Team sergeants T. Acree and D. Harrison and canine Loki assisted in the investigation.
