A truck driver and his passenger remain in the Halifax County Detention Center following an 18-wheeler crash which left both uninjured but charged with possession of methamphetamine as well as a DWI count for the driver.

Roanoke Rapids Police Department Captain Harold Phillips said Lieutenant M. Hunsucker and Officer P. Dueitt responded to the northbound lane of Interstate 95 at the 171 mile marker this morning around 4:30 and found a rig on its side with two occupants — James Glasgow and Tiffany Dawson — inside.

While investigating the crash officers located a white bag containing methamphetamine on the ground where Dawson, 29, and Glasgow, 57, exited the vehicle.

Glasgow, who is an independent trucker with a valid CDL, according to Phillips, was found to be in possession of marijuana.

The pair, both of Joanna, South Carolina, were arrested and charged.

Dawson faces charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was jailed on a $5,000 secured bond.

Glasgow was charged with DWI, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. He received an $8,000 secured bond.

Both have Friday district court dates.

Phillips said the overturning of the truck was related to the DWI count.
