The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Lieutenant Morgan Worrell:
On Sunday shortly after midnight, Officer P. Dueitt located a motor vehicle collision on South Hamilton Street at the intersection of Rosemary Street.
Dueitt found the driver — 45-year-old Joshua McKinney of Littleton — in the driver’s seat with the vehicle still on and in neutral.
Dueitt observed a noticeable odor of alcohol emitting from the driver’s breath. He showed other indicators of impairment during the investigation.
McKinney was transported to a local hospital for treatment. While at the hospital he was charged with DWI and has a May 16 district court date.

Larceny
On April 24 around 11:30 a.m. a woman entered a business on Premier Boulevard and attempted to leave with more than $100 worth of merchandise.
She was seen leaving the store in a silver SUV that appeared to be a Ford Escape with temporary Virginia tags.
