The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office has announced the following promotions and milestones:

A. Collier from lieutenant to captain — chief detective in the CID. 

Collier has been a full-time law enforcement officer with the sheriff’s office for a total of 10 years and has been in the CID as a detective for over seven years. 

She started her career in 2015 serving within the role of a patrol deputy for three years. 

In 2018 she was promoted to the position of sergeant detective and later promoted to lieutenant detective in May 2022 within the CID where she served in this role for the past three-and-a-half  years. “Captain Collier has been a true asset as a detective with the sheriff's office,” Sheriff Jack Smith said. “We look forward to Captain Collier continuing to serve the citizens of Northampton County as a detective with the sheriff's office.”

Mitchell Deloatch was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant in the CID.

Deloatch has been a full-time law enforcement officer for 23 years with a total of 18 years of service with Northampton. 

Deloatch has served in numerous roles and capacities within law enforcement to include patrol deputy, patrol sergeant, school resource officer sergeant, criminal investigator, and captain. “Lieutenant Deloatch has a large array of law enforcement experience and serves a pivotal role as a detective with the sheriff's office,” Smith said. “We would like to congratulate Deloatch for his recent promotion to lieutenant and for his years of service to the citizens of Northampton County. We look forward to Lieutenant Deloatch continuing to serve the citizens of Northampton County as a detective.”

Patrick Jacobs was promoted to the position of major.

Jacobs has been a full-time law enforcement officer for over 16 years since 2009 all with the sheriff’s office. He has been a part-time employee with the Garysburg Police Department since 2010.

Jacobs was previously in the Criminal Investigations Division as a detective for over 11 years. He started his career in 2009 serving within the role of a patrol deputy for five years. 

In 2014 he was promoted to the position of sergeant detective and later promoted to captain/chief detective in 2016 and served in the role until his promotion. “Major Jacobs has been a true asset as a detective and deputy with the Northampton County Sheriff's Office,” Smith said. “We would like to congratulate Major Jacobs for his promotion to major as he will have an essential role in assisting with administrative procedures, overseeing and assisting with day-to-day operations in the CID, and overseeing and assisting with the civil division and court operations.”

Bryan Johnson was promoted from a patrol deputy to a sergeant in the CID as a detective.

Johnson has been a full-time law enforcement officer for a total of 19 years and has been with Northampton since November 2024. 

Johnson has served in numerous roles and capacities within law enforcement to include canine officer, investigations, and patrol. “Sergeant Johnson has a vast amount of law enforcement experience,” Smith said. “We would like to congratulate him on his recent promotion and look forward to him continuing to serve the citizens of Northampton County as a detective with the sheriff's office.”

W. Killian was recognized for being in law enforcement and with the sheriff’s office for a total of 10 consecutive years as of September 30. 

Killian has been in the CID as a detective for approximately four years. 

Prior to becoming a detective in April 2021, he started his career as a patrol deputy for three years and later served as a patrol sergeant for three years. “Sergeant Killian serves a vital role as a detective with the sheriff's office and has done an outstanding job,” Smith said. “We look forward to Sergeant Killian continuing to serve the citizens of Northampton County as a detective.”
