The program A Celebration of Littleton's Religious Heritage will be held at The Acorn Center in Littleton on October 16.
Approximately 12 churches from Littleton and surrounding areas will come together to share their histories at the event presented by the 250th Halifax County Semi-Quincentennial Church, Cemetery, and Genealogy Sub-Committee.
Florine Bell, who heads up the committee, said it is the first-ever Halifax County church history celebration.
Doors to the event open at 5:30 p.m. and the program begins at 6 p.m.
(For your free tickets; please visit the Acorn website at www.theacornlive.com to register or call the The Acorn Box Office at 252-586-3124)
Each participating church will present a 5- to 10-minute program highlighting their unique heritage and contributions to the community. The evening will feature musical performances, including selections by a First Baptist Church pianist and an instrumental piece by a renowned local saxophonist.
As part of the gathering, pastors or representatives from Littleton's churches are invited to come and share their history and contributions to the faith and the community. “This event will serve as a platform to celebrate the legacy of our churches and the founders who have labored in love, stood firm in faith, and shaped the spiritual landscape of our towns and cities,” Bell said. “Whether your church was founded a century ago or in more recent decades, your story matters and deserves to be heard.”
