A Roanoke Rapids woman faces charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance following a stop by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Saturday night.

According to the arrest warrant, Wendy Rose, 33, allegedly possessed 15 grams of oxycodone and a Taurus 9mm firearm. She was convicted of felony attempted larceny on August 27, 2015, in Nash County, and served an 18-month sentence.

Major Anzell Harris said deputies stopped a vehicle operated by Rose around 11 p.m. on Bolling Road near Strauther Drive.

Sergeant N. Estes identified Rose and noticed a firearm in plain view. Halifax County Emergency Communications confirmed Rose had a suspended driver’s license. During a records check, Estes confirmed Rose is a convicted felon.

During the vehicle search, four oxycodone pills in a clear plastic wrap were also seized. Rose was also cited for driving while license revoked.

Rose, who was no longer listed in the Halifax County Detention Center this morning, has a January 27 court date. Lieutenant P. Rackley assisted.
