The arraignment date for a former Roanoke Rapids police officer charged federally with two counts of distributing child sex abuse material has been moved to March as his defense attorney awaits the completion of a forensics analysis of electronic devices seized from him at the time of his arrest last month.

Isaac Matthew Nielsen’s arraignment date is now scheduled for the March 10 term of court before United States Magistrate Judge Robert B. Jones Jr. according to court records.

Nielsen’s attorney, Joseph E. Zeszotarski Jr., wrote that the government has produced discovery consisting of investigative reports, other documents, and recorded interviews.

Zeszotarski noted that several electronic devices were seized from Nielsen at the time of his arrest in December and are currently undergoing forensic analysis by the government. “The results of that analysis are not yet complete. Defendant requests the opportunity to obtain and review the results of that analysis prior to having to file motions and/or make decisions regarding the course of his case.”

Zeszotarski also wrote that additional time is needed to review the discovery, locate and interview relevant witnesses, and then discuss with his client the evidence and his potential courses of action in this case. “Defendant requests this additional time to prepare his defense and determine his course of action in this case. Defendant has been ordered detained pending trial which further interferes with his ability to meet with counsel.”

Nielsen was indicted last month for two counts of distribution of child ponography and is currently detained in the Piedmont Regional Jail in Farmville, Virginia, pending trial.

According to the complaint  the investigation originated from a tip by a foreign law enforcement agency regarding a user on the porn website Motherless operating under the name ****meat22.

An undercover officer posed as a single mother on the platform and engaged in chats with ****meat22, who was later identified as Nielsen.

In these chats, Nielsen reportedly said his favorite age is 10 to 15 and expressed sexual interest in the undercover agent’s fictitious 10-year-old daughter.
