Two women face prostitution charges, and one was also charged with aiding and abetting, following the execution of a search warrant at the Lily Spa in Roanoke Rapids.

Major Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said that at the time of the raid  — around 7:30 Monday night — two women were in the establishment in the 1000 block of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.

Youngim Yi, 61, and Chaemok Joung, 58, were located in the establishment.

Yi provided a Washington state address, while Joung listed a Texas address, Harris said in a statement.

Yi was the individual charged with aiding and abetting.

Joung

Harris stated that the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force executed the search warrant alongside the HCSO Criminal Investigation Division and patrol officers from the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

He noted that the search warrant stemmed from a criminal investigation into activities at the business that exceeded standard massage services. Agents developed probable cause to believe workers were performing sex acts in exchange for money.

This was the latest raid to occur at the business, which has previously advertised on interstate billboards. Similar search warrants were served at the location in 2011 and 2018.

Both women received $5,000 bonds but were not listed in detention records. They have district court dates scheduled for February 4.

No further information was immediately available this evening.
