The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to interim Chief Bobby Martin:

On May 30 around 4 p.m., members of the Proactive Community Engagement Team, narcotics investigators, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant at Brookwood Motel.

Officers encountered several people when they entered with the warrant, which was the result of an investigation after an increased number of overdoses in the area.

Officers located several items of drug paraphernalia such as baggies, scales, straws used to snort narcotics, and glass pipes used to smoke meth.

Kimberly Shearin, 45, James David Johnson, 48, and Catherine Moore, 49, all of Roanoke Rapids, were issued citations for possession of drug paraphernalia.

They received a July 3 court date.

Sergeant J. Hardy, C. Babb, SBI Agent  S. Corn, J. DeSare and police investigators assisted.

On June 4 around 4 p.m., members of PACE and narcotics investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Chockoyotte Street.

This investigation began late last year when an undercover officer purchased narcotics from Isiah Hendricks.

Officers purchased from Hendricks several times during the course of the investigation.

During the execution of the search warrant officers located an undisclosed amount of cocaine and currency.

Hendricks was arrested and charged with maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of schedule II, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He received a $50,000 bond and July 3 court date.

Martin said in a statement the undercover operation continues and there will be more arrests throughout the summer months. “So again, if you have sold illegal drugs within the last year, we just may see you next.”

Hardy, Sergeant M. Moseley, Babb, O. Wiltsie, B. Council, Desare, J. Rowland, and S. Blythe served the search warrant.

Monday shortly after 2:45 p.m., Hardy observed a person operating a vehicle in the area east of Tenth Street and Park Ave and initiated a traffic stop.

The driver was identified as Raheem Mallory, 22, from the Roanoke Rapids area.

Marijuana was discovered in a $20 bill and Mallory’s license was also revoked.

A citation was issued for driving while license revoked and possession of schedule VI.

He received a July 3 court date.
