The Roanoke Rapids Graded School District Board of Education is looking to fill the seat of member Joey Briggs, who announced his resignation from the board Wednesday.
“We are certainly sorry Mr. Briggs made the decision to resign,” board Chair Jay Carlisle said in a statement. “He has been an excellent trustee and has added to our discussions as we make decisions to best serve the children of this district. We wish him well in his future endeavors.”
School system spokesman Les Atkins said in a statement the board is seeking written notification of interest from individuals who are eligible for and willing to fill the vacant seat, which expires in November of 2021.
The statement says a position on the board requires a great deal of time.
There are at least two monthly meetings, committee meetings, training sessions and attendance at some student activities.
