It has been more than four months since the popular crime show America’s Most Wanted aired its segment on the murders of Thomas “Tomcat” Davis and his girlfriend Jenlee Foster.

The aim of the show was to garner leads on the whereabouts of Jimmie Lee Mason Jr., the second person wanted in their murders, which occurred September of last year.

Lieutenant Bobby Martin of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is confident they will get the man. “We still have him in NCIC (a national criminal database). We’re still actively following up on leads. We get leads from time to time and go from there.”

Mason’s father stayed on the lam and created a new life for himself in South Carolina before being caught by federal authorities. “What Jimmie Lee has got to discover is we’re not going to stop looking for him and any information we get will be followed up on and he will be caught.,” Martin said. “It might not be tomorrow. If he’s comfortable looking over his shoulder that’s fine. We’ve coordinated with other agencies. With him being entered it’s only a matter of time. He’s going to make a mistake and get himself caught.”

Investigators have intensely looked for him in the immediate area and the state, Martin said. “We’ve been looking out of state also.”

The America’s Most Wanted segment portrayed Davis as a mentor to Mason and also centered on the child Foster left behind when she was murdered on September 4.

Mason’s capture is critical to help healing the scars left behind, Martin said. “The biggest thing is first of all to give closure to his family and the two victims’ families. He left that scene armed and dangerous and we don’t know if he won’t do the same thing to someone else. Mr. Mason needs to realize this is not going away.”

Anyone with information on Mason’s whereabouts should call local law enforcement, Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 or Martin at 252-593-1018.
