Additional people have been arrested over the course of this week in a May 4 beating that left two people with severe injuries.
Detective Joseph Sealey of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said three of the people arrested, one of them the driver, were in a car that carried Michael Scott Hamilton to the scene. Another allegedly communicated threats to the female victim.
Joshua Wayne Fisher, 24, of Roanoke Rapids, faces charges of felony accessory after the fact and common law obstruction of justice in the case.
Sealey said Fisher allegedly facilitated Hamilton’s escape from the scene and obstructed the investigation into the beatings.
He was jailed on $29,000 bond and has a June 12 court date.

Mason, left and Dickens
Joshua Brandon Dickens, 21, and Christopher Leon Mason, 38, were both charged with common law obstruction of justice. The men, both from Roanoke Rapids, received $5,000 bonds and have June 12 court dates.
Sealey explained Fisher picked up Hamilton and Dickens and Mason were passengers. Fisher drove Hamilton to the crime scene and waited on him but did not know his intent.
The female victim was struck more than three times in the head and face with a baseball bat. A male victim who tried to intervene was also beaten.
The female victim, who has had multiple surgeries, is recovering well but still has a long road to full recovery, as does the male victim, Sealey said.

Meanwhile, 43-year-old Roanoke Rapids native Carol Harris Clemmons was charged with and arrested for communicating threats to the victim.
Sealey said Clemmons allegedly made threatening comments to the victim the night of the assault although it’s unclear if she knew what occurred.
Clemmons, who has or had some kind of relationship with Hamilton, was given a $600 bond and also has a June 12 court date.
Hamilton, who allegedly assaulted the female victim as the result of a domestic dispute, remains in jail.
