A Weldon business owner is offering a reward that he hopes will encourage someone to bring back his service truck stolen following a break-in this morning.
Bill Blackwell, owner of Rivertown Tire, said his son opened up the business around 7:45 a.m.when he noticed the front door had been pried open. He also noticed the back bay door was opened and the company's service truck, which has an air compressor in the back, was gone. Also missing were four 11R22.5 Turnpike truck tires and two 265/70 R17 light truck tires.
The service truck, which was stored inside the building, is a white 1994 Ford F-150 with blue striping and Rivertown Town on the side.
Blackwell estimated the total loss in the break-in to be around $10,000. “It's going to cost to up-fit another truck. A $10,000 expenditure is nothing to sneeze in a small business.”
There are possibly other items on the truck when it was stolen that are specific to the tire business, like air guns, gages and a jack.
The Weldon Police Department is investigating.
Around 7 p.m. Tuesday a two-tone blue S-10 was seen at the back door of the shop while the bay door was wide open.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call Blackwell at 252-536-2780, the police department at 252-536-3136 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
