Two men tied to fentanyl and heroin trafficking in the Roanoke Valley have their sentencing dates set for January 22 in New Bern, according to federal court records.

Deandre Lamont Miles and Terry Louis Kearney are scheduled to appear before District Judge Louise Wood Flanagan.

Miles took a plea in September in which he admitted he knowingly and intentionally possessed with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl.

Kearney is pleading guilty to charges he knowingly and intentionally possessed with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of heroin.

A federal indictment tied Miles to Kearney, who is from Roanoke Rapids.

The indictment against Miles linked him to the distribution of 100 grams or more of heroin and 400 grams or more of fentanyl.

The investigation of Miles began in February of 2018 after a confidential source claimed he was a major supplier of heroin and fentanyl in Halifax and Northampton counties.

The informant also told the government Miles was known to make several trips to locations including South Carolina to pick up large amounts of narcotics and bring them back to the Warner Bridge Road area of Northampton County.
