Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said in a statement today a deputy caught on video arresting a woman “used no more force than necessary to affect the arrest.”

A video posted to the streaming website YouTube is entitled Police Brutality at Dollar General in Roanoke Rapids and shows Deputy Chris Boden arresting a woman while encountering several people claiming the deputy was beating her, a claim from the woman being arrested her arm was broken, and threats to turn the matter over to the NAACP.

Other than her claims on video, there were no reports of her arm being broken, the sheriff said this afternoon.

In his statement, Tripp said he planned to turn the video from YouTube as well Boden's body camera footage over to the district attorney's office as evidence.

The arrest was recorded Monday at Dollar General on Bolling Road after Boden stopped by the store while on duty to buy cleaning supplies for his patrol vehicle.

Two women walked past him and Boden noticed the strong odor of marijuana and escorted them out to continue his investigation.

Following his investigation, four people were arrested and charged:
