A Roanoke Rapids man is being sought in a Thursday afternoon shooting which left a victim with non-life threatening injuries.
Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Michael Jermaine Garrett, 42, is known to frequent the Highway 48 area of Roanoke Rapids.
The sheriff’s office received a report around 3 p.m. a victim had been shot near the Highway 48 area. The victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment.
Detective R.B. Biggerstaff and Lieutenant S. Casey developed Garrett as the alleged suspect.
Garrett is wanted on warrants Biggerstaff took out for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a felon.
