A Roanoke Rapids man, wanted by Rocky Mount police for attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly shot into an occupied vehicle during an attempted drug robbery, was arrested Friday afternoon by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Community Action Team.
According to Rocky Mount Police Department warrants, Jumar Johnson, 20, allegedly conspired on March 26 with three other unidentified individuals to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The warrants state that the targets of the robbery were 1,563.1 grams of marijuana and $1,233 in cash, with a combined total value of $16,000. Johnson allegedly fired a weapon into an occupied vehicle, causing serious injury to the victim.

Halifax County Sheriff's Office Major Anzell Harris said that around 5:30 p.m. Friday, CAT Sergeants G. Martin and D. Harrison spotted a vehicle known to be driven by Johnson parked behind a residence on Gordon Drive in Roanoke Rapids.
CAT officers surrounded the home and apprehended Johnson as he was attempting to flee from the rear of the residence.
He was served with Rocky Mount Police Department warrants for attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and discharging a weapon into an occupied property.
Johnson was denied bail and is scheduled for a June 24 court date in Edgecombe County.
