The Weldon Police Department reported that on Sunday shortly after 1 a.m., Officer C.L. Foster observed a vehicle with an expired registration plate and conducted a traffic stop.
Lieutenant Lloyd Melton said Ryan N. Medlin of Halifax and Heather Leeann Pierce were backseat passengers. Next to Medlin were pieces of drug paraphernalia, and a field test of the residue inside a pipe returned a positive result for narcotics. Medlin’s backpack also contained additional paraphernalia.

Pierce had a backpack that allegedly contained a quantity of suspected fentanyl, heroin, and paraphernalia. Residue found on a spoon also tested positive for methamphetamine.
Pierce was charged with possession of 6 grams of fentanyl and 19 grams of heroin, along with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. She remains in the Halifax County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.

Medlin was charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He remains jailed under a $7,500 secured bond.
Both individuals have district court dates scheduled for August 27.
