Wrenn Funeral Home has opened a register book through Friday so people from the area can sign and extend their condolences to the family of Dolly Parton.

“I know Dolly had an impact on my life ever since I was a 10-year-old kid dreaming of playing the bass guitar for her for just one song,” said Jake Smith, a Wrenn funeral director. “Wrenn just wants to allow time for everyone to express their thoughts and to be able to present this as a tribute from Roanoke Rapids about Dolly for her family.”

The book will be sent to the Parton/Dean family in Nashville so the condolences, tributes and signatures can be received by the family, he said. “My wife, Lori, is a Sevier County native, and we moved here from East Tennessee, so Dolly is a household name that means so much to our family. We know she touched many lives and want to offer the community here an opportunity to express their feelings of how Dolly impacted their lives so her family can get a glimpse of how many lives she touched — near and far.”

The registry is located in the lobby of the funeral home at 1015 West Fifth Street in Roanoke Rapids.

Those wishing to sign the book may do so for the rest of the week through 5 p.m. Friday, Smith said.
