A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested on cocaine counts Tuesday evening after agents raided his motel room, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Jonathan Pilgrim, 40, was denied bail and has other pending charges, court records show.

Major Anzell Harris said agents of the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force executed a search warrant around 5 p.m. at a motel in the 1000 block of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway. They were assisted by the HCSO Criminal Investigations Division.

Harris said the search warrant was the result of community complaints, law enforcement intelligence, and a continued investigation into alleged drug distribution by Pilgrim.

Agents seized 9 grams of crack cocaine, a digital scale, sandwich baggies, and a Taurus 9mm handgun.

Pilgrim was charged with:

Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver cocaine

Felony possession of cocaine

Maintaining a dwelling for the sale of narcotics

Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Possession of drug paraphernalia

On October 3, 2022, Pilgrim was convicted of obtaining property by false pretense and sentenced to 24 months of supervised probation, according to court records.

On August 31, he was charged with communicating threats and assault by pointing a gun.

According to the warrant, he threatened physical injury to a female victim by pulling a gun on her and saying he was going to have someone “f**k her up and blow her and her child’s brains out.”

He has a September 23 district court date.
