The eleventh Halifax County death related to the novel coronavirus is reported within the Roanoke Rapids area ZIP code, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services COVID-19 dashboard.
It is the tenth death reported within the Roanoke Rapids area ZIP code. One death has been reported within the Weldon area ZIP code.
In today’s report the Halifax County Health Department said it is aware of 862 positive cases of COVID-19 since testing began.

Today’s update does show a decrease in positive cases.
The health department encourages residents to continue to practice the three Ws — waiting six feet apart, handwashing and wearing a facial covering. “Improving your compliance with the three Ws now will both better educate children as to how to practice them. Please take this opportunity to protect our children and each other very seriously,” the health department said.
Northampton County
On Sunday the health department reported there were 375 total positive cases of which 345 have recovered. There have been 17 deaths.
As of Sunday there were 13 active cases.
