The Halifax County Health Department today added 24 new cases of the novel coronavirus to its data today since its last report on Friday.
Health Director Bruce Robistow said this afternoon although a slight decline is noted there is also a flattening trend being observed.

There have now been 1,157 total positive cases of the novel coronavirus reported in Halifax County since March 25.
There have been 22 related deaths — 16 within the Roanoke Rapids area ZIP code; three within the Weldon area ZIP code; one within the Hollister area ZIP code; one within the Enfield area ZIP code; and one within the Scotland Neck area ZIP code.
As of last Wednesday the number of current cases were at 104 while the number of recoveries were at 980. That data is expected to come again Wednesday.
The health department continues to encourage residents to practice the three Ws — waiting six feet apart, handwashing and wearing a facial covering. “Improving your compliance with the three Ws now will both better educate children as to how to practice them. Please take this opportunity to protect our children and each other very seriously,” the health department said.
Northampton County
The health department reported Sunday there 523 total positive cases of which 459 have recovered. There were 47 active cases reported Sunday. There have been 17 related deaths.
