Weldon police are investigating an armed robbery which occurred late Monday night at a convenience located in the 1600 block of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway and close to Interstate 95.
Chief Christopher Davis said Sergeant L. Melton and Officer M. DiPietro responded to the store shortly before 10:45 p.m.
The suspects had left the area fleeing north towards Fairground Lane.
During the investigation officers discovered two suspects were involved.

One suspect was described as approximately 6-feet, 1-inch tall with a dark complexion. The suspect had a thin build and was wearing all black with the exception of a red hooded jacket or sweatshirt. This is the suspect who brandished a weapon, Davis said in a statement.
The suspects fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money.
There was no one injured during the robbery.
Sergeant T. Mason and Officer H. Cross, officers with the Roanoke Rapids Police Department and deputies with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
