The Halifax County Health Department today added 28 new positive cases of COVID-19 to its data.

The new positives bring the cumulative total since March to 2,594.

Data on recoveries and current cases is expected to be reported Wednesday.

The trend in new positives continues to show a sustained increase, the health department said.

Health Director Bruce Robistow said Monday this increase was projected due to weather driving more people inside to congregate as well as gathering for the holidays.

The health department continues to encourage practicing the Three W’s — handwashing, wearing a facial covering, and waiting 6-feet apart.
