“We’ve done a lot of searching but have not been able to locate him,” Chief Deputy Scott Hall said of 72-year-old Lacy Bunch.

Helicopters from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and North Carolina Forest Service have been used in the search and Hall said, “We’ve had as many as 90 volunteers out on foot.”

Dogs have been used in the search for Bunch. “It’s been a great group of volunteers working,” Hall said.

He said family members don’t have a good indication of where Bunch might have been going after he was reported missing around 7:30 Sunday morning.

He was last seen in the 500 block of Bell Street in Enfield.

The state Sunday issued a Silver Alert for Bunch.

Hall said in an earlier statement that family members said the man suffers from dementia and may not have been taking his medication.

He was last seen wearing a dark T-shirt, gray pants and is believed to have not been wearing shoes or socks.

He is 5-feet, 5-inches tall and weighs approximately 130 pounds. His hair is red and he has brown eyes.
