As of Thursday, there were 3,611 COVID-19 patients who have recovered, Halifax County Health Director Bruce Robistow said today.

There were 463 current patients and three who were unknown.

These numbers reflect Thursday’s report when the department reported the total cumulative positives since March were 4,157. It does not reflect data reported today.

Robistow said the percentage of recoveries using Thursday’s numbers was 86.87 percent in Halifax County while the percentage of current patients was 11.4 percent.

As of Thursday and also in today’s report the health department continues to report there have been 80 related deaths — 1.92 percent.

In today’s report the health department added 46 new positive cases which bring the cumulative total since March to 4,203. The data on recoveries and current cases was not available today.

The health department continues to encourage residents to wear a facial covering, practice social distancing and wash hands frequently.

Northampton County

The health department reported Thursday there were 1,503 total positive cases of which 1,362 have recovered. There were 76 active cases. There have been 65 related deaths.

Vidant Health

The health system reported Thursday there have been more than 7,300 team members who have received the COVID-19 vaccine. More than 4,600 have received both doses.

Vidant also reported more than 6,600 eligible community members have received their first dose of the vaccine.

Vidant’s system-wide census of hospitalized COVID-19 patients was 190.
