Two family members of a homeless man who remains in critical condition have been located, Roanoke Rapids police Chief Chuck Hasty said in a statement this evening.

Hasty said the family members of Edward Lee Murphy were located in the High Point area and his information has been passed on to them as well as the medical facility where the 55-year-old man is being treated.

Murphy, the man who is known locally for living under the Interstate 95 bridge at Becker Drive Extension, was hospitalized around 7:30 Wednesday morning after a call came in from someone concerned about his well-being.

Hasty said in the statement, “Thank you to everyone who shared the information, made calls and helped in locating his family. Please continue to keep Mr. Murphy in your prayers and thoughts.”
