The percentage of positive COVID-19 cases now stands at 3.6 percent, according to the Halifax County Health Department.

“Right now we’re going in a very positive direction in regard to our cases of COVID-19,” health department Director Bruce Robistow said. “This is exciting news that comes at an opportune time. I strongly recommend that folks who are not vaccinated do so as soon as possible so we can sustain the low numbers of infections.”

While the virus is still aggressive in many parts of the world, Robistow said, “Prevention now can help to ensure that we keep our positive rates at a manageable level.”

Robistow also said as of late Tuesday, there are 50 active cases of COVID-19 in the county. There have been 5,485 who have recovered. There have been 112 related deaths.

Today the department reported six new positive cases, which bring the total since March of last year to 5,653.

The percent positives have decreased over the past two weeks with an average of 3.6 percent.

Halifax County Vaccination Status 

19,658 people at least partially vaccinated — 39.3 percent of population 

17,771 people fully vaccinated — 35.5 percent of population

Northampton County 

The health department reported today there have been 1,879 total positive cases of which 1,793 have recovered. There are 16 active cases. There have been 70 related deaths.
