Roanoke Rapids police are investigating a shooting in which two people were injured this evening.

The injuries to the two adults are not considered life-threatening, Chief Bobby Martin said.

He said shots were reportedly fired from a vehicle in the 400 blocks of Madison and Monroe streets around 5:45 p.m.

Soon after the initial call, Martin said in a statement, officers were told that two people sustained gunshot wounds.

Officers got to the victims and they were carried to a medical facility.

Martin said officers are currently conducting neighborhood canvasses and interviews to learn more about the crime.
