The Halifax County Health Department today reported eight fewer new positive cases of COVID-19 than in its report for last week.
The department also added two deaths related to the virus which brings the total to 143.
Today the health department added 49 new positive cases to its data, which brings the total since March of last year to 8,004.
There have been 7,741 patients who have recovered — 96.87 percent — and 107 active cases.
Health Director Bruce Robistow was not immediately available for comment.

The health department reported Tuesday there have been 2,612 total positive cases of which 2,505 have recovered. There were 33 active cases. There have been 74 related deaths.
