A Henrico area man faces charges by the Emporia and Roanoke Rapids police departments after he was found in possession of a pickup stolen in the 800 block of Park Avenue this morning.

Roanoke Rapids police Chief Bobby Martin said the man charged, Thomas Evans IV, is a possible suspect in a case the police department reported Thursday concerning a vehicle which was stolen Tuesday from the 300 block of Cedar Street.

Around 6:30 this morning Officer C. Roberts responded to Park Avenue about the stolen pickup. Further investigation determined the vehicle was in Emporia and police there were contacted.

Evans attempted to flee when officers responded to the area where the truck was located. He was apprehended without trouble.

Emporia police charged Evans with possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Roberts obtained warrants on Evans for felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle and felony larceny of a motor vehicle.

Roanoke Rapids detectives continue to investigate several other matters in which Evans may be involved.
