The Northampton CountySheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting death which occurred Monday around 5 p.m. outside Gaston.

Captain Patrick Jacobs said officers responded to Warner Bridge Road and discovered a man later identified as 30-year-old Ricky Lamar Douglas Jr. of Gaston in the front yard. He died from multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

Jacobs said the shooting death is being investigated as a homicide.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is assisting.
