A Roanoke Rapids man surrendered to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office today to face opioid trafficking and other charges.

Tony Lamont Rogers, 44, came to the sheriff’s office shortly after 3 p.m. Captain A.M. Harris said.

The charges lodged against Rogers, of Lee Lane, were based on an investigation by Agent D.J. Epperson.

During Epperson’s investigation two search warrants were applied for and granted, one for Rogers residence on Lee Lane Road and another for his trap house on Grant Drive.

Those search warrants were executed by the narcotics division on March 18.

During the search of the trap house, Harris said Rogers attempted to flush crack cocaine but agents were able to seize 10 hits.  Agents also seized 75 oxycodone pills and currency.

Agents seized eight oxycodone pills during the search of his Lee Lane home.

Rogers was charged with trafficking opioids, possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and simple possession of schedule II controlled substance.

Rogers received a $10,000 bond and April 20 court date.

Citizens are encouraged to report possible drug activity by calling the narcotics division at 252-535-1257, Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 or by downloading the P3 Tips app.
